What Is State Counselling?
State counselling is an MBBS admission procedure where the State Medical Councils or Directorates of Medical Education (DME) of each state allot MBBS seats to qualified local candidates, based on their NEET-UG score, category, and reservation policies.

State Counselling Process Steps
- Online Registration on the state's official counselling portal
- Document Upload and/or Verification
- Choice Filling and Locking
- Seat Allotment Result
- Reporting to Allotted College for confirmation
- Subsequent Rounds if vacant seats remain (Round 2, Mop-up, Stray Vacancy)
Important Tips
- Track state-specific dates, as they differ from the MCC (central) counselling.
- Some states charge security deposit or registration fee
- Apply for both central counselling (MCC) and your home state's counselling for better chances.
